Zanzibar is not one destination — it is a reef, an old city, a spice island and a string of very different beaches. This page brings together everything there is to do, organised the way people actually plan: by mood, by area and by what is possible today. Every listing below is bookable, with transport from your hotel priced in.
Each category surfaces live, bookable experiences — the same discovery engine that powers the JAMBO homepage.
Where you stay changes what makes sense to do. Pick your area for beaches, food, sunset spots and travel times.
The classics are Safari Blue from Fumba, snorkelling at Mnemba Atoll, a Stone Town walking tour, a spice farm visit, Jozani Forest for red colobus monkeys, dolphin trips from Kizimkazi and a sunset dhow cruise. Most travellers combine two or three ocean days with one or two culture days.
Five to seven days is the sweet spot: one day in Stone Town, two or three beach days, and two excursions. Three days is enough for a single beach base plus one big day trip.
It depends on the tide and the time. Mornings suit snorkelling and boat trips, afternoons suit spice farms, Jozani and beach clubs, and evenings suit sunset cruises, Forodhani night market and Michamvi sunset bars. JAMBO's 'What can I do today?' section on the homepage matches live availability to the time of day.
Excursions typically run from about USD 30 for a short activity to around USD 80–120 for a full day on the water. The biggest hidden cost is transport, which is why JAMBO shows the transfer from your hotel as part of the price rather than leaving it to a taxi negotiation.
Popular boat days and The Rock restaurant fill up in high season (July–August and December–February). Booking a day or two ahead is usually enough outside those peaks; live seat availability is shown on every experience page.
